donwannagotoschool syndrome

I have been running around too much offlate with my lil man "donwannagotoschool syndrome". It has been almost 2 weeks that my lil man absense from school. With fever, sinus and no appetite to eat makes him to stay away from school. This is, to me, could be induced by psychological factor as well. I am not so certain though.

At the same time my big man is on medical leave off and on. The good side of it is that now he is no more taking medication for HBP, Cholesterol and Diabetic. The natural way seems to be a suitable solution to him. This is a result of his consistent cycling and also proper diet. He lost almost 12 kilos within 2.5 months. Cycling and proper diet has significant impact on the his health. Being off the hook from those medication is a big improvement. However, he is still need to consistently monitor his blood sugar and BP everyday to be within an ideal level and also observe any unexpected reaction. This is because the change is too fast...

All these worry me much to certain extend and I have no peace of mind at office. Switching off my mind as I entered office main gate is what I had been trying to do everyday. But but...I can't pretend that in my subconcious mind...I am switching off. Family is a priority in my life above other things. Giving talk on my area and also meetings with subordinate and peers provide a moment to focus on developing my future career.... which in some ways inject loads of strength and energy for me...

For the syndrome with my lil man, it takes both of us to be in school with him almost the whole day yesterday. To observe and to experiment with teachers and friends the possible reasons of this syndrome. Meeting with other parents also gave opportunity to share similar problems and how to mitigate it. It is good in a way to realise that he is not the only one with this syndrome. Something in common is happening...

Yes, I am aware and read Anedra's entry about her son long before my son was diagoned as Asperger's syndrome. And Kak Ruby also did mention abt Anedra. Will be in touch with her. Thanks Kak Teh.

As for your big man...well done... To lose 12 kgs in 2.5 months is very good indeed. And I do hope that the cholesterol and the BP will go down with the change of lifestyle. As for the diabetes.. please check the blood sugar. Diet and weight lost can help with control but need to be vigorous coz diabetes is one disease you want to keep under control.

As for your lil man...hang in there. Take care of yourself too...

Rasanya your lil man tu masih belum puas nak bermanja2 dengan mak dia tu...and that could be the reason dia tak mahu ke sekolah...

AM...rasanya bukan lil man aje mengalaminya...mungkin sebab dah lama bercuti membuatkan dia lebih selesa di rumah...kalau anak kak lady pun dulu camtu jugak...

maklang,
tu lah...sekarang ni manja sangat lebih. But many things we discovered abt other factors contribute to his donwannagotoschool.

kaklady,

sekolah dia tak cuti...tapi dianya yang tak mau pi sekolah sebab sakit etc...lama2 terus tak mau pi..pening jugak dibuatnya. Tapi alhamdullilah dah ok dah now.

AM, sometimes all we can do is bersabar aje. But of course sambil2 tu kena juga usaha to coax him to like going to school again. I feel for you - been through this before with my eldest. Almost a month dia tak pi sekolah. That was many years back ~~ I think we found out school was getting too boring. After a while, she was back to the usual.

QOTH,

yes, many friends at office share with me similar experience. I manage to coax my lil man to make him step back to school. But whenever I left to my big man, he manage to get his way around it not to go..I guess, mother's magic touch is always no 1.

Thanks for sharing with me.

AM, kemungkinan dua jenis masalah. Tak mahu gi sekolah sebab faktor disekolah yang menakutkan atau tak mahu tinggalkan rumah (emak atau ayah) kerana takutkan sesuatu terjadi masa dia tak ada.

Jangan dibiarkan, budak sekarang terlalu dimanjakan. I ingat lagi darjah satu dulu, I tak nak gi sekolah, mak tarik masuk bilek mandi dan tuang air sejuk sebaldi atas kepala, she looked like she meant business, thus, I quickly dressed and go to school. Sebab tak nak gi sekolah takut sebab homework tak siap.

nj,

yes, it is quite an achivement for him. But everthing must be control and balance, I mean the food and exercise so that all those problems are well kept under control.

Id,

tq for the yr doa.

May you and family have a good life too. Take care!

has,

many things we have experimented and observed and tried Perhaps other ways is still we have not discovered wrt this problem with lil man.

I considered myself quite a "garang" type after a soft approach not working. And it didn't work for my lil man if I impose the forcing technique. A soft approach, pujuk and reasoning would win the games of encouraging him to school. It is really testing patient to take that approach...hehehe..

Tu lah, dulu our time..we really takut cikgu and parent too..so there is a forceful factor for us to go to school...
